This is the beginning of my 20th year as Butler's librarian, my 25th year as a school librarian and 28th year as an educator.

Some of my favorite things are:

  • Working right here at Butler, where my own children went to school

  • Watching children get excited about learning something  new

  • Seeing children enjoy a good story

  • Working with the Battle of the Books teams

  • Good books

  • Good friends

Besides being an elementary school librarian (I was at Pope for 5 years before coming here), I have been a medical school librarian and a junior high math teacher. My Bachelor's degree is from the University of Texas at Austin and my Master's degree is from the University of North Texas.

I get excited at the beginning of each school year when I think of the possibilities before us.

I was hired in 1995 by Joyce Meesey and have, therefore, worked with every principal Butler has had. The library program has grown and flourished under the leadership and encouragement of these dedicated principals.

About Us

•   My family (check out the photos of my                     2  grandchildren in  the library)

•    Being an American, particularly a Texan

•    Old classic movies

•    Fresh flowers

The mission of the library program is to facilitate, for both students and staff members, an appreciation of quality literature, growth of reading skills,            and the development of competency in information retrieval and usage by providing access, education and opportunities for collaboration.
